Kateri-Cowley-Rafter-Six-smABOUT ~ KATERI COWLEY

Kateri Cowley was born and raised on a world famous guest ranch in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, Rafter Six® Ranch Resort. This is where she began her horsemanship journey.

Kateri attended Olds College Equestrian Sciences with Western as the main discipline, her skills were refined towards a performance horse, but she always loved a good outdoor adventure.

Upon graduation, Kateri interned in Texas to learn more about cutting horses with top hands and horses. She progressed to be a two year old colt starter.

Kateri took her new skills from Texas and continued to develop a colt starting program at the ranch to develop brave, responsive and trustworthy horses.

Kateri also enjoys training the rider, which lead to the “Silver Screen” giving actors lessons, performing on screen stunts, wrangling, co- hosting on shows Including tv personalities such as Charlie Boorman “Extreme Frontiers Canada”, Mark Wright “Party Wright Around the World”, The Bowman’s “Changing Reins”, Top Australia news anchors, and her favorite tv show “ Heartland” on CBC television.

The Calgary Stampede has always been in her blood, in 2009 she was crowned the Calgary Stampede Princess, which opened new doors by combining public speaking, marketing, and a genuine passion for incredible horsemanship.

Kateri continued down this path and was brought to London, England to promote Canada’s Cowboy Community through television and radio interviews, trade shows and a promotional commercial, then traveled north to Cumbria to learn about competitive driving “4 in hand” by World Champion Drivers and Horses.

Kateri’s high energy, speed and high trust with horses found her competing with the best at the exciting Calgary Stampede event “Cowboy Up Challenge”; where horse and rider are tested on challenging obstacle courses that puts communication, trust, skill and horseman versatility into this race that is both timed and judged.

Kateri currently holds the 2014 “Cowboy Up Challenge” Championship, and is the first woman to do so. She is truly honoured to be competing at the Mane Event Trainers Challenge in April, where so many amazing and inspiring horse trainers have been before.
